Faithful Party Punch | Red Slush Punch

This discovery was a happy accident just about six months ago. I was planning a baby shower for a friend having twins. I was doing a Dr. Seuss Thing 1, Thing 2 theme with red foods and needed a red punch. I wanted something super easy that didn't require a ton of ingredients. I found this one at allrecipes.com. It was the talk of the shower. Refreshing. Again, super easy, done up ahead and then you just dump ginger ale into the frozen mixture before serving. Since that baby shower it's been used for two more baby showers and a 65th wedding anniversary.

Trust me, they are going to drink a lot of this stuff because it's so yummy!

Red Slush Punch
Source: allrecipes.com

3 (3 ounce) packages strawberry flavored gelatin mix
9 cups boiling water
4 cups sugar
9 cups water
2 (46 ounces) cans pineapple juice
2 cups lemon juice
4 (2 liter) bottles ginger ale

*I found we actually used more than this much ginger ale, but it was being consumed quickly and so the slushy goodness wasn't dispersing as quickly as it might have otherwise. It wouldn't hurt to have a little more ginger ale than you think you might need.

In a large bowl, whisk together the strawberry gelatin mix an d9 cups of boiling water. Set aside. In a large pot, bring the remaining 9 cups of water to a boil. Stir in the sugar until dissolved. Pour the sugar water into  the gelatin water, then stir in the pineapple juice and lemon juice, mixing well. Pour into four 1-gallon size re-sealable freezer bags, or pretty Bundt pans to freeze.

To make punch, place one of the frozen portions into a punch bowl and pour one bottle of ginger ale over.
