Gracie's Third Birthday | Party Two

When we do multiple birthday parties with the kids, we try to make the actual birthday at home with just us. We have a few traditions. Almost always there are birthday donuts with a candle.

There are always birthday phone calls from both grandmas.

We had a low key day since Daniel was at school. The sun shined and we were outside almost the whole day. We'd done a last minute invite of a couple of friends for cupcakes, but they weren't able to come. (Mommy should have planned better, but I never told Gracie, so she wasn't disappointed.)

When Daniel got home we started the treasure hunt I had prepared. Gracie had gotten her own back pack with a sleeping bag. The other two kids have had ones for a while and she was so excited to get one of her own. She wore it through the treasure hunt because it was an adventure and you need a back pack for any adventure.

The end of the treasure hunt was a treasure map that Daniel had drawn that took us to the location of Gracie's present. Daniel had great fun trying to help Gracie follow the map.

Gracie loved her horse for Lily!

And I love my little Gracie who is now three!

Our other family tradition is taking the kids out to ice cream just the five of us on their birthday. It usually ends up being Dairy Queen. Gracie was so beat she fell asleep in the van on the way. She slept the entire time we were there and the entire way home. She even slept through me putting on her pajamas and tucking her into bed. She slept until ten o'clock the next morning! I knew she was getting sick and it made me so sad.
