Intentional Summer | Last Day of School
Today was the day... the very last day of kindergarten for Mercy and first grade for Daniel. They were so eager this morning. Over the last week Daniel said several times that he wishes he had a thousand days of school left. What a testament to his awesome teacher Mrs. L., because he wasn't a fan when we started off this year. In fact, we had some really rough mornings. But this year has been a blessing. He's had the opportunity to bolster his skills and self-confidence and it has made all the difference, academically and socially.
They stood waiting for a while, patiently allowing me to snap away with the camera. (They aren't always too tolerant in the morning, so I seized the moment.) Eventually I let up, and that's when I actually got a couple of my favorite pictures.
They had headed out to the bus stop a bit early so they could get a game of hide and seek in, one last morning, a favorite time filler the mornings both Mercy and Daniel have gone to school. I love to watch them literally hide in the same spots each morning.
Then I saw the bus down the road and they were ready to roll...
One last wave over the shoulder. One last good-bye to my Kindergardener and First Grader!
Bring on our Intentional Summer! I don't want to waste away any of the precious moments I have them at home. The window is so brief before their teachers once again have more premium awake time with them than I do.
"Be very careful, then, how you live---not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil." Ephesians 5:15-16
